Tips for keeping hair straight?

i have wavy/textured hair and i straighten it pretty often. i use a remmington straightener, its pretty cheap but it works ok. i just ordered a solia (comparable to a chi) so thats supposed to work better. but normally by the end of the day my layers get a little wavy and the end flip out in weird ways. any tips?
