Feeling torn between my mom and the military, help?

One thing that the military is good at, and what I think you need, is severing that umbilical cord that apparently still exists between you and your mom. You will still be a loving son and your mother will be (Or should be) proud of your decision to better your future. Go ahead and do it if it is truly what you want. If you have put enough thought into this decision and have the intestinal fortitude to see it through to the end it will be the best decision you have ever made in your life.
